My husband is home today so we all went on a walk. We took Gracie on the longest walk she has been on so far...probably about 30-40 minutes! She did a GREAT job letting my husband lead her, except of course when we came to any small children. Any noises they make (screaming, yelling...anything) freaks her out. Just seeing them freaks her out. So, I think I am going to need to rent out some friends' kids for a bit to show Gracie that kids are kind, too!
We walked to a friend's house where she, her boyfriend, and his buddy came out to meet Gracie. I was super proud of her for letting Amber pet her for a bit! Go Gracie! I think she senses that I am close to Amber and just *knew* to trust her! She wasn't too jazzed yet around the boys, but that's ok. Baby steps...remember, baby steps!!
Went out for a little over 2 hours and she was fine. I set my ipad up to video her (I need to figure out how to get it to record for more than 50 minutes. I have it plugged in and deleted a bunch of stuff, so I don't know what the problem is.) She slept the whole time of course. We are leaving for a few hours tonight as well to go to dinner, but I am pretty sure I know what she will be doing. Zzzzzzzz........
Apparently she went on the couch when I was upstairs and my husband was downstairs. I heard Craig telling her to get down and knew she was up to something. Secretly I smiled, knowing that one day she will be a couch dog...Craig just doesn't want that that... yet ;)
Night walk went well, too...Craig was able to get her up off the bed with a tug and a "Let's go!" so hopefully we are headed back in that direction!
Gracie is still VERY skittish around kids but she will be ok one day. I just know it.
Kids ARE terrifying LOL she'll get the hang of them once she meets some very quiet ones with cheese
ReplyDeleteCheese, huh? Being vegan, I never have any in the house, but I might have to think about that...wonder if soy cheese would work? LOL
DeleteI agree. Kids ARE terrifying. And I'm a TEACHER!
