Monday 7.15.13

Well, the day started with me having to pick her up again to get her to go outside to do her business. I  am trying to get her into a routine. Luckily I still wake up super early, even during my summers off, so I can get her used to the time she will be eating / going to the bathroom in the mornings.
Even when I put the leash on, this is what I get. Up ya go!
I was able to get her to go outside in the afternoon by opening the back door and going out of sight. She went out, did her biz, then I decided to stay outside with her for a bit. Boy, is she a scardy-dog when it comes to these birds of paradise leaves trees rusting in the wind
Big scary monster leaves!!!!!!

In her s"afe corner" of the yard

Please make these scary noises go away!!!!!!!

Leave me alone. I'm having a rough day. :(
She had no desire to go on her night walk - seemed too scared. I had to really give her leash a yank to get her to come out of the yard (something I hate doing, but it got her going. I have to be in charge. I cannot "feel bad" all the time.)

She has not come upstairs at all even though I was told by Joyce that she can indeed climb stairs (some greys need to be taught how.) I slept on the couch while she slept on her safe bed, just in case Béla came down. Of course Grace her her muzzle on anytime there could possibly be Bela interaction. I kept it on all night just in case...knowing that Bela sometimes likes to sleep downstairs. As much as I hate the muzzle, I have to be very vigilant. Grace is still a dog. A dog that was trained to chase a lure (some of which look like Béla's tail)

See my concern??
The only good thing is Grace's racing record:

 Um...yeah.
See that?
Starts -----
That means....no starts.
She most likely was not good enough to even start in a race.
So, HOPEFULLY that means she wasn't interested in the lure and therefore has little or no prey drive.
I can only hope and pray! (No pun intended at first.)

  1. When my Henry first arrived he was terrified of the neighbor's Japanese maple tree and the stop sign at the end of the block! So Gracie is in good company. Today, 2 years later, I would not call him brave, but he is much more comfortable with the world. Gracie will get there.

    1. Thank you! Hopefully she does start to learn that these things are not so scary!
